How to read this
Each entry is a minimum wage change fixed by statute, ordinance, ballot measure, or an official announcement, with the source it was read from. Jurisdictions that index their wage to inflation appear with the amount to be announced until the agency publishes it; we do not estimate. Where a state, a city, and the federal rate all apply, the highest governs. Employers must also update the required workplace poster when a rate changes.
Common questions
When is the next minimum wage increase?
The next scheduled increase on this calendar takes effect September 30, 2026. Most state increases take effect January 1; several cities and Oregon adjust July 1.
Which minimum wage applies when the state and city rates differ?
The highest applicable rate governs. A city ordinance can exceed the state rate; the state rate can exceed the federal $7.25; the federal floor applies where no higher rate exists.
Why do some entries say the amount is to be announced?
Those jurisdictions index their minimum wage to a consumer price index each year. The agency publishes the new amount on a set schedule, often in the fall for a January 1 change. We list the date and add the amount when it is official.
